What Images2Layers does
Images2Layers turns a flat picture — a poster, a product photo, a logo, an illustration — into separate transparent layers that you can move, recolour or replace, then download as a layered PSD or a ZIP of PNG files. The layered file opens in Photoshop, Photopea, GIMP, Affinity and Krita.
Around that core tool sit three AI tools that each produce one image — an object eraser, an AI photo editor and an AI PSD generator — and three free tools that run entirely in your browser: PNG to PSD, PSD viewer and PSD to PNG.
The models behind it
We don't train our own models. We test the available ones on real images, run the ones that work through fal.ai, and tell you which one you are paying for:
- HD — Seedream 5.0 Pro Layerize (ByteDance). It decides how many layers an image needs (2–17), names each one ("Title text", "Perfume bottle") and returns layers up to 1536 px on the long edge. Hidden areas behind objects are usually painted in on the background.
- Standard — Qwen Image Layered (Alibaba's Qwen team). You choose 2–8 layers, and they come out at about 640 × 640 px. It is coarser and can keep several objects on one layer.
- Nano Banana (Google's Gemini image model) powers the AI photo editor and the AI PSD generator, and a dedicated object-removal model powers the eraser.
The comparison of HD and Standard on our blog shows both models on the same image.
Who it's for
- Designers who are handed a flat JPG and need a layered file to work from.
- Marketers and online sellers reusing product shots and ad creatives in new sizes and layouts.
- Illustrators and animators preparing artwork for parallax, motion graphics or Live2D-style rigging.
- Developers building parallax scenes and interactive visuals for the web — see how to make a parallax effect from a still image.
How we work
- Prices you can see before you start. Every tool shows its cost in credits up front. HD holds its maximum and refunds what it doesn't use, and failed runs are refunded automatically. The full rules are in the refund policy.
- No watermark. Your results are clean, and you can use them commercially when you have the rights to the original image.
- Real examples only. Every example image on this site was generated and split by our own pipeline, and is labelled as AI-generated.
- Limits stated plainly. Glass, smoke, fine hair and tiny text are hard for every model we've tried, and text comes out as pixels rather than editable type. We say so before you spend credits.
- Your files stay yours. We don't use uploads to train models, and you can ask us to delete your data at any time — see the privacy policy.
